The Vortex has a rich visual UI available when you play on a supported Alexa-enabled device with a screen, such as the Echo Show, Echo Spot, or the Fire HD 8 or Fire HD 10 tablets.

Here’s a rundown of the key screens in the game, and how they work. Note that these screenshots are from a large-format device; what you see may vary on smaller-screen devices.

Status Report

You’ll see this screen when you ask for a status report, or in various other situations when you need to select a new task.

The screen shows three key pieces of information:

  1. (From left to right) Your current ship integrity, memories of the past (if you have uncovered any), and multi-gel.

  2. A list of currently available tasks. On large-screen devices (Fire HD 10, Fire TV), each task will have an icon indicating its type, or the type of tool required to perform the task, if any. If there are more tasks than fit on the screen, you can scroll the list with your finger, or by saying “Alexa, scroll up” or “Alexa, scroll down.”

  3. The status of all of your robots. For each bot, if they’re currently doing a task, you’ll see the time left until they have completed it.

Note: on Echo Spot, you will have to scroll vertically to see all the blocks of information.

Task Started

You’ll see this screen when a robot begins work on a task. You’ll see an icon indicating the type of task; the time to completion for the task; and the robot that was assigned to do the task.

Item Used

You’ll see this screen when you use an overdrive battery or upgrade kit, or install a tool. The screen shows a design for the robot who used the item, and an icon in the center that indicates what item was used.

Task Completed

You’ll see this screen on the next time you return to the game or ask for a status report, after a robot has completed a task. The screen shows an icon indicating the type of task that was completed, the robot that was assigned to the task, and any rewards that were earned for doing the task.

Note that if multiple robots completed tasks at the same time, you’ll only see a screen for the last one.

There are several other screens in the game that you’ll see from time to time, but these are the key ones!
